Salvador Tineo and Luis Gonzalez will join Team VRT for the 2024 Iberian Supercars and Supercars España seasons, sharing a Mercedes-AMG GT4 as the Spanish squad embarks on a GT4 campaign in the series.
Salvador Tineo and Luis Gonzalez boast a wealth of experience in motorsport, starting from karting and advancing through Touring Cars and GT racing, where they have consistently tasted the thrill of victory.
For Jordi Vila, participating in Iberian Supercars and Supercars España is justified by the quality and level of the two Race Ready-organised championships. “We have decided to enter this championship because we believe it is the perfect platform to learn and compete against a competitive grid, both in terms of cars and drivers,” says the Team VRT Team Manager.
The Spaniard acknowledges that his team faces a significant challenge ahead in the GT4 category, but asserts that everyone in the team is determined to give their utmost effort at every stage of the season. “It won’t be an easy year as it’s a learning season for us, but that doesn’t mean we won’t give it our all. Our team, comprising mechanics, engineers, and drivers, is highly motivated, and we are confident that success awaits us. Here we go!”, adds Jordi Vila.
Team VRT participated in last year’s edition of the Circuito Internacional de Vila Real with two Peugeot 308 Racing Cups – one driven by Manuel Fernandes and the other shared by Jean-Philippe Imparato and Carlos Tavares. The team has another Mercedes AMG GT4 available for Iberian Supercars and Supercars España.
The season for both championships will kick off on May 25-26 at the Circuito de Jerez, preceded by a test day scheduled for April 6 at the Autódromo do Estoril
