Gabriela Correia will take part in the 2024 season of Iberian Supercars, the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Supercars España, driving the JC Group Racing Team’s Mercedes AMG GT4.
The Braga-born racer participated in the final two events of the previous year, held in Jerez and at the Autódromo do Estoril. At the Portuguese historic circuit, she showcased an impressive performance, demonstrating resilience by climbing from eighteenth place on the starting grid to secure an impressive eighth-place finish in the final race.
Hill Climb racer Gabriela Correia is committed to further improve her skills as a driver. She views the Iberian Supercars, the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Supercars España as ideal platforms for her development and growth in the sport.
“I like to race against experienced and fast drivers to challenge myself and evolve, which doesn’t happen in the Hill Climb, as my opponents have cars with superior performance. In Iberian Supercars, the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Supercars España I find a levelled technical platform that allows me to develop as a driver and this was a determining factor in me deciding to compete in these competitions,” said the JC Group Racing Team driver, adding: “I realised in the two races last year that I’m lacking pace, but I’m going to work on that to have a good season and take advantage of my development throughout 2024 to later accept some offers that have been made to me to race in Europe.”
Gabriela Correia will be driving a Mercedes AMG GT4 throughout the season and is determined to work towards her potential. “Basically, the decision to do the circuits was due to the fact that I wanted to compete against experienced drivers with identical cars, because in the Hill Climb every year I race against people with superior cars and it’s different. And as I’ve noticed that my pace on the circuits isn’t what it used to be, I want to get back into the rhythm”, concluded the driver from Braga.
Alongside Gabriela Correia’s Mercedes AMG GT4, the JC Group Racing Team had previously confirmed its entry into the series with the Cupra TCR driven by the father-daughter duo, José Correia and Beatriz Correia.
The Iberian Supercars, Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade and Supercars España seasons will begin on 25 and 26 May at the Jerez Circuit, with a test scheduled for 6 April at Estoril
