Escudería Faraón will make its Iberian Supercars Endurance debut this season with a Porsche 991.1 Cup driven by Alvaro Fontes and Mirco van Nostrum.
Malaga’s Alvaro Fontes is a well known face in the Supercars Endurance paddock, finishing third in the 2022 GTC drivers standings with two class victories and a pair of podium results. The Spanish driver also took two second place finishes in the GT4 Pro class at Jarama.
Teammate Mirco van Nostrum will be doing his first appearance in the Iberian series, but he already has a good knowledge of the Iberian tracks, as in 2021 he won the Spanish Endurance Championship title in the TCR class, driving an Audi RS3 LMS.
Alvaro Fontes said: “I’m very happy to compete in this championship again. It’s a competition that grows year after year, with a great balance of performance, which allows exciting and competitive races. Besides, having Mirco as a team mate is always a guarantee of success. Last year I was on the podium in all my participations in Supercars Endurance, either with Porsche or with Ginetta. Therefore, we hope to do the best we can with the support of Escudería Faraón and, that way, enter the fight for the title”.
Diogo Ferrão, CEO of Race Ready, added: “It is fantastic to have a proven driver like Alvaro Fontes with us again, and to welcome for the first time Mirco van Nostrum and Escudería Faraón. I am sure that they will be another very strong competitor in our races and an excellent example of how the ‘Gentleman Drivers’ can compete at a very high level while having fun and enjoying the fantastic destinations of our championship”.
