Henrique Chaves was in the last two days at Paul Ricard for a testing session with the Teo Martín Motorsport’s McLaren 720S GT3. The goal was to begin his adaptation to the British car.
The Portuguese driver was looking forward to this test in the circuit nearby Marseille, as it was the chance to begin to understand the Woking-made machine and to start working with the Spanish outfit.
During two days Henrique Chaves racked-up miles and tried different set-ups to adjust the car to his driving style. It was also the opportunity to meet his teammate and to bound with him. “It was an important test! I could try many solutions for the McLaren 720S GT3 and we managed to adapt it to our driving style. The team was able to do different back-to-back tests with its other cars on track and collected loads of data to analyse. Therefore, we can kick off a strong season. It was a very good test session”, said the 22-year-old driver.
These two days at Paul Ricard allowed Henrique Chaves to have a deeper contact with the car that he will race in this year’s International GT Open season. He was impressed with the McLaren 720S GT3. “I never ever raced with a GT3 car, but I competed with single seaters and LMP2 cars. I was really surprised with the McLarens’s overall performance. It has a good balance and I believe that we can have a competitive season as Teo Martín Motorsport is a very professional team”, he added.
The International GT Open season gets underway at Paul Ricard over the weekend of April 27th – 28th, 2019. The series comprises seven rounds, visiting the European circuits of Hockenheim, Spa-Francorchamps, Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, Barcelona and Monza.
