The GT4 South European Series have been attracting interest all over South Europe. The desire to join to the series’ opening season showed by numerous teams with recently out of homologation GT4 cars led to the introduction of a new category – the GTC.
The series founded by Race Ready with the support from SRO Motorsport Group has been generating interest in Portugal, Spain and outskirt countries as shown by Italy’s Autorlando Sport, who entered two-brand new Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport for the 2019 season.
However, the GT4 South European Series, with its appealing media coverage, especially with live TV broadcasting, around interest among teams with GT4 cars that lost homologation in recent years, such as Aston Martin Vantage GT4 (MY2018 and previous specs), BMW M3 GT4, KTM X-Bow MY2008, Porsche 997 GT4 or Ginetta G50 GT4.
In response to this huge interest, with the support from the SRO Motorsport Group, Race Ready introduced a new class, the GTC. The new category will follow the PRO-AM and AM categories previously announced calendar, kicking off at Nogaro, on April 20/22, and keeping Vila Real Street Circuit as an extra round.
The GTC category sporting regulations will be similar to PRO-AM and AM categories, but the driver pairing will be made up of one or two Bronze drivers or one Bronze and one Silver with a ballast of 1.5% of the car’s homologated weight. The new class will have its own podium ceremony.
For Diogo Ferrão, this is an inclusive solution to give the opportunity to take part in the series to drivers and teams that do not have available the latest GT4 machinery. “The interest in the GT4 South European Series has been huge and we are confident that we will have good grids, in terms of quality and quantity. Many teams and drivers with cars that lost homologation have contacted us and we’ve considered that would be unfair to let them out. That led us to create the GTC class, which we believe it will also be a success as five teams, which represent a six-car universe, have already shown interest in taking part”, explained Diogo Ferrão, Race Ready’s CEO.
The series promoted by Race Ready in partnership with SRO Motorsports Group will kick off at Nogaro, in the Coupe de Pâques, at April 19th-22nd, and will visit four other circuits – at Circuito del Jarama, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Autódromo Internacional do Algarve and Circuito do Estoril. In addition, a “Special Cup” will be held at the Vila Real street circuit.
The GT4 South European Series’ races will be TV broadcasted in Portugal and Spain and will be broadcasted in its Youtube Channel for the rest of the world.
