Shortly after winning the rally world title in the WRC2 category – the result of a fantastic season with Yohan Rossel and Nikolay Gryazin – DG Sport Compétition was once again honoured during the traditional RACB Awards on Thursday, December 19th. For the third time in its short existence, the team from Theux was named ‘Team of the Year’
Established just a decade ago, DG Sport Compétition quickly gained acclaim at various levels. After winning a national class title, they achieved a world title in the Junior WRC with Quentin Gilbert and Renaud Jamoul.
Over the years, the team has been represented by notable drivers, including Kevin Abbring, Pieter Tsjoen, Kris Princen, Guillaume de Mévius, Maxime Potty, Cédric De Cecco, Jos Verstappen, Stéphane Lefebvre, Niels Reynvoet, Yohan Rossel, and Nikolay Gryazin. Rossel and Gryazin played pivotal roles in a remarkable 2024 WRC2 season, securing victories at the Rally Monte Carlo (Rossel), Rally of Croatia (Gryazin), Rally of Portugal (Gryazin), Rally of Chile (Rossel), and the Central European Rally (Gryazin). These successes guaranteed the team the world title well before the season’s conclusion!
A world title that did not go unnoticed, as became clear on Thursday evening during the RACB Awards ceremony. For the third time in its short existence, the team from Theux was named ‘Team of the Year’.
“Belgium is regarded as part of the cradle of motorsport, home to many high-level and globally recognized teams,”said Christian Jupsin, co-founder of DG Sport Compétition alongside Alain Georges. “Receiving this RACB Award for the third time is exceptional! I am personally very proud, especially considering our team has only ten years of experience. This award reflects the hard work of our staff, and it is certainly a recognition of their efforts.”
Alain Georges added, “This RACB Award is a testament to our entire team. The results we achieved this season were outstanding. Along with our five victories and the WRC2 team title, we led every rally we entered at some point. Unfortunately, punctures sometimes cost us potential victories. It was also a challenging season that required us to find solutions in various areas, which meant putting in even more effort, all while operating with a team of just seven people. Everyone was committed to putting in extra hours, striving for one goal: the world title! Our strong performances in the Belgian championship further highlight our success. While this season’s achievements are significant, we couldn’t have done it alone. We extend our thanks to everyone, especially our subcontractors, for their relentless efforts
Looking ahead, DG Sport Compétition is now preparing for the 2025 season with an additional prestigious award in its trophy cabinet. Their goal for the next year remains consistent: to keep improving, embrace new challenges, and continuously strive for victory
