Henrique Chaves will be back to racing next weekend, continuing the 2019 International GT Open title fight at Silverstone, where will be held the season’s fifth round.
The Portuguese driver debuts this year in the GT world, though, he has been one of the leading contenders of the season, taking a podium in his first race in the category, at Paul Ricard, April.
The driver from Torres Vedras has been showing strong pace and consistency which allows him to lead the Drivers’ Standings, when were held four events and eight races, overcoming the middle of the season.
With the summer break behind, the last race weekend was held at Red Bull Ring, July 14th, Henrique Chaves gets back to racing at Silverstone, a circuit that he knows well, with Formula Renault 2.0 races in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and a European Le Mans Series’ in 2018. The second place that he achieved in 2017, in the second Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup’ race of the rave program, is his best result in the British track.
The Portuguese driver, who shares the Teo Martín Motorsport’s McLaren 720S GT3 with Martin Kodric, enjoys the English circuit and is determined to fight for the top positions during the weekend. “It’s a track where I have some good memories and it’s always a pleasure to be back to Silverstone. After almost two months without driving the car, I’m looking forward to getting back to action and fight for good results. We are in the standings’ lead and, now, all the results are very important, so, we will work to keep our position in the drivers’ standings”, said Henrique Chaves.
The goals are clear to the twenty-three years old youngster, but he knows that he will have to overtake some adversities and strong opponents. However, with hard work and focus, Henrique Chaves believes he can reach his goals. “I think that our car will be competitive at Silverstone, but our adversaries are really strong and I’m sure that they will be fast in this track. We will have to work hard to be fast and to achieve good grid positions in the qualifyings, so we can get the results we want in the races”, underlined Henrique Chaves.
