Greece’s Kanaroglou showed good pace on GT4 South European Series debut at the wheel of his E2P-run Ginetta G50

Kosta Kanaroglou has become a well-known GT racing driver on the Spanish scene in the last decade. The Greek driver sealed the GT Light title in the 2010 Spanish GT Championship and secured two other class vice-championships in the same Spain-based racing series. Besides, Kanaroglou also achieved remarkable success in the V de V Endurance Series and the Supercar Challenge.

As they were looking for new challenges, the Spanish outfit and Kanaroglou took with the South European Series another big step forward and got a first taste of the GT4-based championship last month. Kanaroglou drove the E2P-entered Ginetta G50 at Jarama and, despite he couldn’t make it to the finish due to two racing incidents in both races, the Greek racer challenged GTC point leaders Marmaduke Hall and Edward Moore for the win.

Questions & Answers

The round at Jarama was your first appearance in the GT4 South European Series. Please, could you explain us your feelings throughout the weekend?

“I really love this kind of racing with cars of similar performance and different brands involved. This means that some cars take the corners faster, just like our Ginetta G50, and others have higher top speed. Therefore, the crowds and even the drivers enjoy exciting and thrilling races as we have to manage our strengths and weaknesses.”

As you are well aware, this is the inaugural season of the GT4 South European Series. What are your first impressions on Race Ready as the series’ organizer?

“Race Ready is doing a great job. Everything went well and smoothly. All information is pretty clear and they use time-saving technology, which also facilitates communication with the teams. For instance, you receive the latest results from the events by e-mail. You don’t wait for hours to collect loads of papers.”

Which ones do you consider to be the strengths of the GT4 South European Series?

“There is no doubt that its strengths are Race Ready’s professionalism and experience and an excellent calendar featuring top-tier circuits. Of course, the tires provided by Pirelli are another asset. They are excellent!”

Would you like to contest other additional rounds of the GT4 South European Series?

“Yes, of course. The all three remaining rounds in Barcelona, Algarve and Estoril take place at nice circuits, which I really love.”
