Tockwith Motorsports is joining the inaugural season of GT4 South European Series with Trico sponsored Ginetta G50.
The English squad was founded in Leeds by the ex-policeman Reg Moore, who wanted to train drivers under seventeen years of age on a purpose built training centre.
Tockwith Motorsports took part in many championships in the last forty-nine years, achieving several titles and race wins. In 2017 it took part in the Le Mans 24 Hours race with a Ligier JS P217 Gibson shared by the former F1 driver Karun Chandhok, Philip Hanson and Nigel Moore, crossing the finish line in 11th overall, ninth in the LMP2 class. In 2018 the team won the Britcar Endurance Category with Matt Greenwood / Sarah Moore (Ginetta G50).
This year the Leeds outfit will contest inaugural GT4 South European Series, entering a Ginetta G50 in the GTC class for Marmaduke Hall and Eddy Moore.
The pair, who began their TMS careers as team-mates in endurance karting back in 2013, will share driving duties following a promising Britcar Sprint Category campaign last season.
Simon Moore, Tockwith Motorsports’ owner: “This championship has filled a perfect gap for us, as we needed a stepping stone type championship for some of our new up and coming young drivers. We are so please to be involved in the inaugural season and, also, it is perfect timing for the opening of our new motorsport satellite base in Spain, which will serve all European racing in the future. We are keeping a close eye on the championship as we have lot of interest in fielding two more cars. If drivers get signed in time for this year’s campaign it would be great. I am really looking forward to it”.
Diogo Ferrão, Race Ready’s CEO: “It’s amazing to have Tockwith Motorsports in the GT4 South European Series. It’s a team with a long European motorsport history, having achieved wins in several categories, and now entering two drivers in our series to launch their international careers in a demanding world of GT racing. The participation of Tockwith Motorsports shows the reach of the GT4 South European Series. In addition to the interest generated in the Iberian Peninsula, there is also interest coming from other European countries such as England”.
The series promoted by Race Ready in partnership with SRO Motorsports Group will kick off at Nogaro, in the Coupe de Pâques, at April 19th-22nd, and will visit four other circuits – at Circuito del Jarama, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Autódromo Internacional do Algarve and Circuito do Estoril. In addition, a “Special Cup” will be held at the Vila Real street circuit.
The GT4 South European Series’ races will be TV broadcasted in Portugal and Spain and will be broadcasted in its Youtube Channel for the rest of the world.
