Alex Caffi Motorsports ready for the NWES playoff in Hockenheim

12 september 2018

Montecarlo, 12 september 2018. Alex Caffi Motorsports is ready for the final rush of the 2018
NASCAR Whelen Euro Series 2018. After the four rounds of the regular season, it’s time for the
semi-finals, or playoffs. On the historic track of Hockenheim (Germany) the powerful 5.7-litre
Chevrolet engines powering the spectacular rear-wheel drive cars of the series born in the USA
will roar once more. In the team of the Monegasque former Formula 1 driver Alex Caffi all
eyes are focused on Japanese Kenko Miura; backed by the Japanese manufacturer, on the
number 2 Toyota Camry he will race in Elite 1, aiming at the Challenger Trophy where he currently
lays second in the standings, and in Elite 2. On the number 1 Ford Mustang two Finnish
drivers will take turns for their first experience in the team, Henri Tuoomala in Elite 1
and Jesse Vartiainen in Elite 2. As in the previous round on the French oval of Tours, the
team will field three cars, with a second Ford Mustang taken to the track in Elite 2 by Italian
Pier Luigi Veronesi. The Elite Club returns with Belgian Jerome François on the Ford Mustang
and Austrian Andreas Kuchelbacher on the Toyota Camry. Among the news within the team
there will be the debut of Michele Caffi. The young son of the team boss will replace in the
role of spotter for car number 1 Beppe Zambelli, about to become a father. The races will as
always be visible in live streaming on the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series website.

Alex Caffi said “We are ready for the final rush: Kenko Miura has driven a very positive season,
improving a lot, and is in full contention for the championship. Together with Pier Luigi
Veronesi, who is already part of the team since Tours, we are pleased to welcome two Finnish
drivers who have a nice track record, also with a view to 2019. I am also excited about my
son’s debut as a spotter. Michele is 22, he graduated this year, I hope he might catch the bug
and maybe carry on the Caffi name in racing”.

The programme of the Hockenheimring (Germany) weekend begins with a double practice session
in the morning and the afternoon on Friday, September 14th, followed by the sessions reserved
for Elite Club, which returns to the track after a four-month break. Saturday 15 the
morning is dedicated to qualifying and superpole, in the afternoon Race 1 for both Elite 1 and
Elite 2. Sunday 16, after a short morning warm-up, the second race of Elite 2 and in the afternoon
at 2.30 pm Race 2 of the Elite 1. All races will be run on a distance of 17 laps, equal to
just under 63 km.
