Montecarlo, 6 june 2018. The Alex Caffi Motorsports team sets full sail to the third round of the 2018 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series  scheduled from Friday 8 to Sunday 10 June on the historic British track of Brands Hatch. After the one-off behind the wheel in the “home” race at Autodromo di Franciacorta Alex Caffi, team principal, returns to the helm of the team which will host for the first time, on the Ford Mustang registered in Elite 1, Belgian champion Bert Longin. Japanese Kenko Miura doubles his commitment and will take the wheel of his usual Toyota Camry both in Elite 1 (where he has already taken two podiums in the challenge ranking this season) and in Elite 2, where he will once again have as a teammate Carmen Boix: The young Spaniard, winner of the Lady’s classification in the last three races held will drive the Ford Mustang which she brought close to the Top Ten in race 2 at Franciacorta. The NASCAR Whelen Euro Series championship born in the United States is run by cars equipped with 5.7-liter 450 bhp Chevrolet engines, a total weight of 1,200 kg and rear-wheel drive, and offers racing and spectacular wheel-to-wheel duels. All the race weekends across Europe are broadcast live on the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series website.

Alex Caffi said “I am delighted to welcome Bert Longin in the team, he is a great champion with whom I too have battled in the past. Together with Kenko and Carmen, we expect him as we await a nice Sunday, a day to celebrate. Brands Hatch is a bit like the “Montecarlo” of the Nascar, the most important and most followed race of the season. Having Bert with us will give even more morale to the team, and will allow us to aim for a result of absolute value in Elite 1, besides supporting Kenko in his race towards the Challenge and Carmen for the confirmation of the Ladies’ title ”.

The Brands Hatch weekend sets off on Friday 8 June, with free practice in the afternoon. Saturday 9 June will begin with qualifying, consisting of a 10-minute session followed by the 5-minute Super Pole. Race 1 of Elite 1 and Elite 2 will follow, both on a distance of 30 laps. Sunday, June 10, after a short morning warm-up, race 2 for both Elite 1 and Elite 2 will take place in the afternoon.
