Araújo Competição has acquired a second brand-new Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo to compete in the Iberian Supercars and the Campeonato de Portugal de Velocidade (CPV) in 2025.
The Lisbon-based team, an AMR Partner Team, holds priority access to two Supercars Endurance Licences, allowing them to compete in the GT4 Pro, GT4 Pro-Bronze, or GT4 Bronze divisions. The team already possesses one of the latest GT4-spec machines, which was campaigned by Bruno Pereira and Gonçalo Araújo in last season’s premier competition across the Iberian Peninsula.
For the 2025 season, Araújo Competição has added a second ‘Evo’—the unofficial name for Aston Martin Racing’s latest model—which is currently under construction at the British manufacturer’s headquarters, further solidifying their partnership with Aston Martin.
“Last year, we had access to Aston Martin’s latest GT4 machine, and we made significant progress throughout the season. By the end, we were already very competitive. Based on this progress, we decided to acquire a second new car, allowing us to strengthen our relationship with Aston Martin Racing and approach the season with enhanced competitiveness,” said Gonçalo Araújo, one of the team principals of Araújo Competição.
The first Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evo already has its driver pairing confirmed, with an announcement to follow at an appropriate time. However, Araújo Competição is yet to decide who will pilot the new machine. “It’s still early—the season starts in April, and we will receive the new Aston Martin by the end of the month. So, we are still evaluating drivers for this car. We aim to secure a competitive pairing that can deliver results, so we will carefully assess all candidates,” Gonçalo Araújo added.
In addition to the two Aston Martin Vantage GT4 Evos, Araújo Competição also retains an Aston Martin AMR GT4 from the previous generation. Despite being older, this car remains highly competitive, and the team is seeking drivers to campaign it.
Teams continue to prepare for this year’s Iberian Supercars and CPV campaign, which kicks off at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve on April 5-6. The official pre-season test is scheduled for March 22 at Autódromo do Estoril
