At the Rally Chile Bio Bio, the antepenultimate round of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), DG Sport Compétition’s Citroën C3 Rally2 cars secured a fantastic double victory. Yohan Rossel and Florian Barral outperformed their teammates Nikolay Gryazin and Konstantin Aleksandrov, claiming the WRC2 Teams’ World Championship for the Belgian team
After Yohan Rossel’s victory in the Rallye Monte-Carlo and Nikolay Gryazin’s in Croatia, the troops of DG Sport Compétition achieved a third victory this season! In difficult, even extreme conditions, a magnificent double was achieved in Chile. This immediately ensured that DG Sport Compétition could no longer be caught in the WRC2 Teams’ World Championship! On Sunday evening, the champagne was uncorked at the team from Theux in Liège
“The Rally of Chile went perfectly because our Citroën C3 Rally2 cars managed to shine from the start. They kept the competition behind them in difficult conditions, and conquered a magnificent double”, says Alain Georges, team manager at DG Sport Compétition. “The drivers and co-drivers performed excellently, but this world title is mainly due to an entire team that never hesitated to try to achieve this result. Without a few unfortunate punctures, we could have won even more rallies this year. But the most important thing is that we did not have to deal with a single mechanical or technical problem during this world championship! We owe this largely to the work of all the team members, who worked in close collaboration closely with Citroën Racing. Together, we worked hard on many aspects of the C3 Rally2, an exceptional car. The results prove that. This Sunday evening, I would like to dedicate this title to the entire team, thank them for the time they have devoted to this project all over the world… and for the victories of course!
“On a personal level, this has not been an easy year for me, and this title makes me very proud”, adds Christian Jupsin. “Few people can imagine the logistical, technical, human and sporting challenge of participating in the World Championship with two top cars. The fact that our staff remained flawless throughout the season is impressive, both in terms of efficiency and professionalism. I would like to thank every team member from the bottom of my heart. Twelve years ago, when Alain suggested that we set up a team together, I would never have dared to dream that we would be able to reach this level.”
Shortly after the team was created, a title in Junior WRC was won, and in 2024, DG Sport Compétition proved that they could enter cars at the highest rally level. And maybe even more rallies can be won this year because the Central European Rally – held in Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic is still on the program this season. A tarmac rally that should suit the Citroën C3 Rally2 of the Belgian team perfectly…
