Francisco Gonçalves after a 2020 debut in motorsport, bets now in the new Iberian Supercars- GT4 South championship with his Lotus Exige prepared by #888 Motorsport. After a debut season shortened by the COVID 19 pandemic, Francisco Gonçalves bets strong in the new competition that joins GT and TCR cars in a single grid.
Since always that Francisco Gonçalves is a fan of the brand founded by Colin Chapman, making the choice of the car that will dispute the GTC class easy. The Lotus Exige 260 R, imported from the Netherlands in 2020, was the model chosen by the Portuguese driver. Car with which he will participate solo in the 5 stages of this new Iberian competition. Being part of the GTC category, dedicated to cars outside the GT4 homologation or cars with older GT4 homologation, the Lotus of the Portuguese driver will use a BOP (Balance of Performance) developed specially to equal the performance of the British car to the other GT4 cars.
For Francisco Gonçalves, driver and head of #888 Motorsport, “I’m excited and anxious to start this new challenge, to return to the track and do what I like most. The objectives for this season are quite simple, to learn to the maximum the Spanish tracks where I never raced, and to try to fight in every round for the highest place of the podium in my category. The Lotus is a very fun car to drive, with a very high aerodynamic dependency, which allows me to corner at a higher speed than the GT4 homologation cars, but when it comes to the straights the conversation is different. I am really curious to see how it will be in Jarama.”
The Lotus Exige 260R also features a renewed decoration for 2021. With the classic colours of the British brand, the Portuguese driver will make his first internationalization on the next 5th and 6th of June in Jarama, Madrid
