Spielberg (Austria), May 16, 2021. An unpredictable and early contact affected the 4 Hours of Red Bull Ring of 1 AIM Villorba Corse while the team was competing in Austria for the second round of the European Le Mans Series with Alessandro Bressan, Damiano Fioravanti and Andreas Laskaratos behind the wheel of the Ligier Js P320 powered by Nissan. After a brilliant qualifying session from Fioravanti and an excellent start from Bressan, that managed to retain their fourth position, on lap 2 the Italian driver was hit by another driver who just lost control of his prototype approaching turn 3.
The damages suffered by their Ligier forced the Italian team to retire from the race without fault, but 1 AIM Villorba Corse is already looking forward to the next round of the series, to be held on June 4-6 at the French circuit of Le Castellet, as Team Principal Raimondo Amadio confirms: “Never give up! We are already focused on fighting back at Le Castellet, where we must take advantage of what we did well during this weekend. We have always been competitive and one of the most positive results came from Damiano’s qualifying in a very tricky session. Unfortunately our race lasted only two minutes, but it didn’t depend on us”.
