Montecarlo, October 2019 – Alex Caffi Motorsport’s powerful 5.7-litre Chevrolet engines are about to fire up once again for the last round of this exciting season in the Nascar Whelen Euro Series 2019. The epilogue will be held in Zolder (B) this coming weekend.
The team coordinated by former Monegasque F1 driver Alex Caffi will be at the start of the final round on the Belgian track with the only Chevrolet Camaro #2 as the damage suffered by the Mustang #1 in Hockenheim have not allowed the team to restore the car in time. The Alex Caffi Motorsport will then be represented on track by Kenko Miura (JAP) in Elite 1, determined to remain among the protagonists of the Challenger Trophy where he is currently in second place, and Jesse Vartiainen (FIN) in Elite 2 who aims to close his rookie season in the top ten of the championship.
The setting for this last outing will be the 4,011 metres of Zolder track, which will take the challenge back to a narrow, technical circuit with an important history as this bends have hosted ten editions of the Belgian Formula 1 Grand Prix. The short pit straight opens a technical first sector with the first four corners. The central section is characterized by two chicanes that can offer overtaking opportunities, while the Bolderberghaarspeldbocht braking ahead of the last chicane, named after Jackie Ickx will close the lap.
The Elite 1 competition programme will open on Friday at 14:05 (GMT +2) with the first free practice session, followed at 15:30 by the second turn. Saturday qualifying and the following Superpole will be on track from 10:00, while the Saturday Race will start at 13:45. Sunday’s grand finale with the last round of the championship will start at 15:45.
The Elite 2 will start on Friday with two free practice sessions at 12:50 and 16:10, while qualifying and Superpole will be played on Saturday from 10:30. The Saturday Race will start at 17:05 and the Sunday Race on Sunday at 11:15.
