Treviso (Italy), April 11, 2019. Scuderia Villorba Corse will take part in the first round of the 2019 Le Mans Cup with two different GT3 cars on April 12-13. For the first time ever the Italian team led by Raimondo Amadio will line up the Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Swiss crew formed by Mauro Calamia and Roberto Pampanini which was confirmed for a full season effort plus the Paul Ricard 1000 km and the 24 Hours of Spa events.
Powered by an optimised AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine, the two racing drivers tested the car in Barcelona last month and then in Le Castellet during Le Mans Cup collective test session earlier this week. In addition, as the team did in 2018, Villorba Corse confirms the Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for the French crew formed by Cedric Mezard and Steve Hiesse. Thirty-one cars are expected to take part in the two-hour race that will start on Saturday April 13 at 16:00h CET.
Team principal Amadio says: “We are delighted to be back in the main GT competitions with different programs joining our prototype / LMP division and also with further plans and partnerships ready for the near future. In GT3 we are starting the Le Mans Cup: it will be a very long season with Mercedes-AMG and other projects related to our customer activities. We will be competing throughout Europe but quite soon we will go even further and new international programs will be announced. During Wednesday’s test session the team collected several useful data, the goal was just getting as much experience as possible. We are confident for the race, it would be good to finish well in the points”.
