Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski (BEL) and Tom Colsoul (BEL) caused a stir with their sensational win in the Qatar Cross Country Rally, round four in the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup. With this triumph they confirmed the great performances they had delivered in the first rallies of the season, in particular with another win in the Dubai International Baja. Thanks to the triumph in Qatar, Kuba also regained the lead in the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup.
With two wins in five special stages, Przygonski and Colsoul delivered in great style, in Qatar. Following third place in the Super Special Stage they proved to be the quickest on day two. While several opponents received substantial time penalties for having missed out on waypoints, the MINI JCW Rally crew contested the special stage without encountering any problems. On the following days, Przygonski secured second places to add another win to his tally in the fifth and final special stage, thus also securing the overall win in Qatar.
“We are very happy, due to this win,” beamed Przygonski. “The rally ran really well for us. We pushed right from the start and quickly found a good rhythm. The MINI was just super. To have won in Qatar feels fantastic as this even is one of the most gruelling ones on the calendar. I’m sorry for Nasser but that’s racing. We now are back in the World Cup and will try to win the title as hard as we can.”
The next rally for the X-raid Team will be the Rally Kazakhstan from 27th May to 02nd June, 2018.
