Valencia (E), 12th april Alex Caffi Motorsports is ready to offer a new and exciting racing season in the 2018 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series which will open from 13 to 15 April on the Spanish Valencia track. There will be 4 drivers in the team coordinated by the monegasque former F1 driver, 2 for the Toyota Camry and as many for the Ford Mustang. The championship, born in the United States, features cars equipped with 5.7-litre Chevrolet engines with a power of 450 BHP, a total weight of 1,200 kg and rear-wheel drive, a guarantee of competitive spirit and spectacular wheel-to-wheel duels. There will be six race weekends throughout Europe and all the races will be broadcast in live streaming on the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series website.
The Alex Caffi Motorsports team will line up in élite 1 the Toyota Camry of the experienced Japanese driver Kenko Miura (with the support of the Japanese manufacturer) and a Ford Mustang for spaniard Borja Garcia. In élite 2, in addition to the Toyota Camry of Miura there will be a Ford Mustang for Carmen Boix, the Spanish winner of the ladies’ classification in 2017. In the élite club, the Toyota Camry will be driven by Austrian Andreas Kuchelbacher.
The Spanish weekend on the Valencia circuit will set off on Friday, April 13th, with free practice. On Saturday April 14th the 10-minute qualifying plus the 5 minutes of Super Pole. Then the saturday races of the various élite1, 2 and élite club categories, all lasting 40 minutes, same mode for the sunday races on Sunday April 14th, all in the great and spectacular choreography typical of the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.
Carmen Boix: “I hope I can be within the top eight overall in Elite 2, and win the ladies’ championships”.
Borja Garcia: “This year I want to win the championship. In the past seasons I had some bad luck in the last races when I was leading the championship, due to mechanical issues or accidents I only could achieve second or third, so this year the only way is to win”.
Andreas Kuchelbacher: “I hope I can defend my title in Elite 2 from last year, Alex Caffi Motorsports is a very professional team. Today in the first session we will see where we are, I hope to climb on the podium this weekend”.
Francois Jerome: “I hope to win some races, and will try to be better than the others”.
The international series runs on twelve events across Europe and circuits with historical names such as Valencia, Brands Hatch, Hockenheim and Zolder. Every race weekend comprises free practice on Friday, 10-minute qualifying plus Superpole on Saturday and two races: the saturday race and the sunday race. Each event offers a very scenic setting with a presentation of the crews on the starting grid, special guests and pompom girls show.
The 2018 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series offers both on-track and off-track shows, with opportunities for fans to meet drivers, autograph sessions and entertainment. The fans can follow the championship through the official series website, where it is also possible to watch the races in live streaming.
