Europe’s premier rally car show Rallyday is pleased to announce that it will be supporting up-and-coming rally driver Cameron Davies as he embarks on his quest to progress from the BTRDA national rally series to the World Rally Championship. This newly formed association ties in with Rallyday’s plans to become more involved with the sport that it will showcase for the 16th time this September.
At 21, Cameron, from Llandovery in south Wales, has already shown that he has the ability to progress through the ranks of his chosen form of motorsport, having claimed a series of impressive awards and accolades since he began competing seven years ago. These include becoming Britain’s youngest ever rally champion at just 15 years old and in 2010, winning the Junior Rally Championship for a second time and being presented with the young rally driver of the year award.
In 2011 Cameron won his class in the Wales Rally GB National and was voted south Wales’ young sports personality of the year. He then went on to become BTRDA Rally First and Junior Champion in 2013, as well as winning his class in the Welsh Rally Championship. Further success came in 2014 and 2015 as he took part in selected events in order to extend his experience.
“We were looking for a way to promote Rallyday to a wider rallying audience and Cameron approached us at just the right time”, explains Rallyday Event Manager Tom Davis. “We are confident that supporting him as he starts his journey from the BTRDA into the BRC and then onto the WRC, will put Rallyday in front of even more rally fans and endorse the fact that we are passionate about the sport at all levels.”
This year will see Cameron and his co-driver Lee Taylor compete in the BRTDA rally championship, which features eight gravel surface events in England and Wales. Driving a Ford Fiesta ST, they are aiming to win the Fiesta ST Trophy, before going on to challenge for the British Rally Championship Junior title in 2017. Should their run of success continue, then a season in the World Rally Championship Junior category beckons.

My team and I will be doing our best to promote Rallyday along with our other sponsors, on what promises to be a very exciting time ahead of us.”
Cameron’s 2016 campaign got off to a flying start earlier this month, when he and Lee won the second round of the Fiesta ST Trophy in the Cumbria-based Malcolm Wilson Rally on 12th March. They crossed the line 21 seconds ahead of their closest rival and finishedan impressive 22nd overall in a field of 111 entries.
